On June 12, 1928, the Bardoli Satyagraha took place in Gujarat, India, during the British Raj, and was a major act of civil disobedience and revolt in the Indian Independence Movement. Vallabhbhai Patel eventually led the movement, and its success helped pave the way for Patel to become one of the most prominent leaders of the independence movement. One of India's most prestigious awards is the Sardar Patel nomination for peace and unity. It honours the outstanding services and significant contributions of individuals, corporations, nonprofits, and philanthropists who have made significant contributions to social change in India. Several Gujarat activists approached Vallabhbhai Patel, the state's most prominent freedom fighter and the Ahmedabad Municipal President at the time.
